I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Cambridge, UK, in 2003, and subsequently began work as a Research Assistant at the ARC. I'm now doing a PhD here, and my research interests concern hormonal effects on social and emotional development.
Specifically, extreme levels of prenatal testosterone are thought to be involved in the development of autism, a condition characterised by social and emotional difficulties. However to date little research has been done looking directly at levels of prenatal testosterone and the effects on later brain function/structure and social-emotional ability through normal development. My project aims to fill this gap using ERP and MRI. This is vital if we are to fully understand what underlies abnormal development, as in autism.
