I completed a B.A. (honours) in Psychology at the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada
My early work involved computer models of brain activity in autism and other psychiatric disorders, as well as clinical work including intensive behavioural therapy with preschool children with autism.
I completed a PhD at the University of Cambridge where my thesis was 'The Amygdala Theory of Autism'. I am investigating the amygdala theory of autism in adults with and without autism/AS, as well as children with autism/AS and normally developing children.
My research work involves 3 broad areas of investigation:
- fMRI studies of social-emotional processing in participants with and without autism/AS
- Computer-based behavioural tasks of social-emotional information processing in participants
with and without autism/AS
- GSR measures during social-emotional perception in participants with and without autism/AS
