Dr Christopher Smith

Research Associate

Chris’s role was to provide project management for the IMAGE study (Investigating Mathematical Talent and Autism using Genetics and Epigenetics) funded by the Templeton World Charity Inc. and the Autism Research Trust. Gifted mathematicians have a higher than average incidence of autistic traits and a disproportionate rate of autism. The aims of the IMAGE study are to identify genetic factors associated with mathematical ability and autism and specifically factors common to both conditions.

Before joining the Autism Research Centre Chris worked on clinical trials and studies in the Departments of Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge and at Papworth Hospital. He has also managed a variety of development and manufacturing projects in the pharmaceutical industry and gene expression studies in the university sector.
