Dr Marie Gomot

Marie Gomot completed an MSc in Physiology and a PhD in Neurosciences at the University of Tours at the INSERM Unit 316 (France). At the same time she gained her MA and a further postgraduate qualification in Clinical Psychology and  trained to become a Clinical Psychologist in the Department of Child Psychiatry at Tours Hospital.

Her previous research has involved the study of auditory perception and discrimination in neurotypical and autistic children. The aim was to identify specific indices of the cerebral dysfunction involved in autism, using non-invasive electrophysiological methods (ERPs mapping). Her research has also focused on characterising clinical phenotypes in families with non specific X-linked mental retardation (XLMR), using neurocognitive and behavioural assessments. The purpose of these studies was to help search for candidate genes and to gain new insights in the function of the XLMR genes in the development and physiology of cognitive functions.

Marie completed a postdoc at the Autism Research Centre, investigating sensitivity to auditory changes in autistic people, using fMRI. She is a permanent researcher at the University of Tours.
