Alex Tsompanidis

Alex is studying the regulation of steroid hormones in autism, with Dr Holt and Dr Ruigrok. He is particularly interested in the relative effects of testosterone and estrogens during embryonic and pubertal development and in the overall health of people with autism. His other research interests include Evolutionary Neuroscience and Translational Medicine. He is funded by a Peterhouse College Research Studentship.

Prior to his PhD, Alex studied Medicine in the University of Athens, where he conducted research in metabolism and pharmacogenomics with Dr Sanoudou and Dr Mantzoros. He has also completed an MSc in Human Molecular Genetics at Imperial College London, and has worked as a junior doctor at the Neurosciences Ward of the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
