Paula Smith

Database Manager

Paula is the Cambridge Autism Research Database Manager, and maintains this database of 30,000 individuals and families with and without autism spectrum conditions who volunteer to help with research. Her role is not only quality control of the data, and to guarantee confidentiality and ethical governance, but also data extraction, data sharing, and volunteer recruitment into new studies. She chairs the ARC Database Committee and is Manager of the ARC Biosamples.

She studied Genetics at undergraduate degree and worked in the field of genetic epidemiology for many years, specialising in the genetics of breast cancer. She leads volunteer recruitment into the autism genetic study funded by the Templeton World Charity Foundation and the Autism Research Trust.
