Structural MRI and Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) in Asperger Sydrome
The ARC and the Brain Mapping Unit are the Cambridge node of a multi-centre study of neuroanatomy and brain function in autism, called the EU AIMS (Autism Interventions Multicentre Study). The study is led by Institute of Psychiatry, Director Prof Declan Murphy). This project will scan 500 people with autism spectrum conditions and 300 age-matched controls to measure cortical thickness, major tracts (using DTI) and volumetric differences in defined brain regions (using structural MRI). The ARC was also part of the MRC-AIMS study (Autism Imaging Multicentre Study) of males with Asperger Syndrome, and initiated a related project examining brain structure and function in women with Asperger Syndrome.
