Eden Hymanson
Doctoral Scientist
Eden Hymanson is a PhD student supported by a scholarship from the K. Lisa Yang Centre for Autism Research at Cambridge. She is supervised by Professor Simon Baron-Cohen, Professor Carrie Allison and Dr Alex Tsompanidis.
Her PhD project has two strands. The first explores how steroid hormones in the prenatal environment shape neurodevelopmental and endocrine outcomes in offspring. The second focuses on the endocrine health of autistic women. Together, this work aims to contribute to the understanding of biological mechanisms underlying autism, while providing evidence to improve support for the physical health of autistic women.
Before starting her PhD, Eden studied Medical Sciences at the University of Exeter, including a placement year at the Autism Research Centre, where she assisted with the Cambridge Baby Study which investigated sex differences in newborn social attention.
