Omar Al-Rubaie
Doctoral Scientist
Omar is an intercalating medical student currently undertaking a PhD under Prof. Simon Baron-Cohen, Prof. Carrie Allison, and Dr. Alex Tsompanidis. He is researching how autism impacts cardiovascular health and disease risk. He is also working on a placenta biobank.
In 2024 Omar was elected the president of Sheffield medical society, one of the largest in the country. Prior to this he sat on the British Medical Association’s (BMA) medical students committee (MSC) as a representative and has been a delegate to the BMA’s annual representative meeting in 2023, 2024, and 2025. In 2025 he was re-elected to the BMA MSC as the representative for the University of Cambridge and currently sits on the BMA international committee and the East of England regional council.
