Support Organisations

Whether you need support for yourself or are concerned about someone else, help is available. The following organisations can offer guidance, understanding, and assistance.

Medical Emergencies in the UK

Call 📞 999 if it is an immediate emergency

For all other medical concerns please call your GP surgery, or seek advice from NHS 24 by calling 📞111

Support Organisations in the UK

Crisis Textline – text 85258 if you are the UK. You will be connected with a trained volunteer counsellor who will respond in real time

Samaritans have a supportive website and their phone line is free and open 24/7: just call 📞 116123

Mental Health Autism have put together a Safety Plan and other resources.

Conversations matter offers advice for safely and effectively talking to your loved ones about
suicidal feelings. There is guidance around many different forms of conversation, including when
you want to talk to someone you are worried about.

Shout provides a free crisis text line. Text SHOUT to 85258 to connect with a trained counsellor.

1. Autism Society of America (ASA)
One of the most established and respected autism organisations in the U.S. Provides advocacy, education, and local support through a nationwide affiliate network.

2. Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN)
Run by and for autistic people, ASAN promotes self-advocacy, inclusion, and disability rights. A highly trusted voice within the neurodiversity community.

3. National Autism Association (NAA)
Focuses on practical support for families, safety resources, and education. Known for its community-based, compassionate approach.

4. American Autism Association (AAA)
Offers free support programs, educational tools, and resources for individuals with autism and their families.

5. The Arc
Supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (including autism) through advocacy, local chapters, and direct services.

Provides evidence-based information and resources for individuals, parents, and professionals.
